Our Stress Testing Methods

Every Peplink design is rigorously tested to exceed your expectations for speed, reliability, durability, and ease-of-use. We invest heavily in quality assurance and user experience testing to give you affordable, enterprise-class gear that just works, from the moment you take it out of the box. To ensure quality, our designs are built, programmed, and tested in-house. Come with us for a tour of Peplink’s stress-testing facilities and learn more about the arduous journey product prototypes go through before they graduate from the labs.

Dedicated Software Testing Lab

10 racks, 200 Peplink devices, and 1000 virtual machines put our software to the test nonstop, 24×7. Every new firmware version gets standalone tests, as well as stability and compatibility tests against numerous third-party devices. This facility has a nickname: The Abyss of Perpetual Testing.

Custom-Built Hardware Testing Facility

This automated testing facility contains custom-designed PCBs, built in-house with the purpose of administering numerous stress tests to all connected devices. Before a new model is launched, hundreds of them will undergo a battery of tests over a course of months, ensuring any glitches get tracked down and fixed.

Torture Testing for Product Quality

Our Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) software suite was written in-house to perform custom stress tests and record the results. Typically, each device goes through 100,000 repetitions per test, far beyond the expected usage throughout the product’s lifetime. Rigorous Environmental Testing

To simulate extreme ambient temperatures, first we freeze devices and see how well they work at -40°F (or -40°C) over several days. Then we bake them to see how they cope with a constant temperature of 149°F (or 65°C). (Right) Our Faraday chambers house thermal stress test equipment. With walls up to 3.5 inches thick and lined with Faraday mesh, the chamber is highly effective in shielding against unwanted radio signals that would otherwise interfere with the tests.

Reliability Through Vertical Integration

As a vertically integrated company, Peplink designs its own hardware and software, application software, and cloud services, ensuring it is always in full control of the entire platform. We are committed to providing reliability you can count on. We continually build and improve our testing facilities, bringing you devices that can easily handle stress that would crush lesser equipment.
